Volunteers

Are you:

  1. interested in helping men, who have been imprisoned or are inside still?
  2. over 18 years old?
  3. willing to commit to one night or day (4 hours) a week for six months?
  4. concerned about making your community a safer place?
  5. open to learning from others?
  6. committed to participating in the criminal justice system?

The John Howard Society wants your help. Your volunteer efforts can help to turn offenders’ lives around and help them lead crime-free lives.

Commitment and caring are two special skills you’ll need if you want to contribute to the John Howard Society.

What will you do?

You’ll help staff run programs in literacy, equipping our clients with better skills to enrich their lives. You’ll help out in the Society’s offices and with its programs, if you have office or fundraising skills or want to know more about the criminal justice system and the individuals who are impacted by it.

Training and orientation will be provided, plus ongoing supervision. Limited access to further learning through workshops and training sessions is also offered.

How Do I sign up?

To join up as a volunteer, please submit a resume online to office@johnhoward.m.ca or fax it to 204-775-1670

Call 204-775-1514 for more information.

"My interest in justice brought me here," says Janet Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator. "Like other volunteers, who stay from six months to 20 years, I am interested in helping people."
